Question

How do you divide your time
blogs, email, youtube, facebook, pinterest,
 crafting, shopping for supplies....
oh and that little thing called a job
what's a crafter to do?
some days I don't know where to begin
How do you decide?

Karen

  1. I wish I had the perfect or right answer to that question! There just doesn't seem to be enough time to do everything. Looking forward to reading other's responses.

  2. Lol!!! When I first started blogging a year ago I posted every day and felt like I was on my computer all the time...I have since realized that I was neglecting way too much around me with the need to post and comment and fb and everything else. As a new years resolution I decided to significantly decrease my blogging time, make projects for my dt's but that would also function as cards and projects I could use (I have so many cards sitting in a box that I would never send out....I don't send 4th of July cards, st patty's day cards and so on) I feel so much better not feeling stressed about postings daily. I for the most part limit my computer time to the mornings when my boys go to school and at night briefly to catch up on anything I might have missed during the day. As for shopping for supplies...I have way too much and I am really trying to go though what I have before I get more :) I do have to say I have done really good!!! Hope this helps? I think we all get way to caught up in having everything...new stamps...new carts and so on...for me I can so not afford all of the new and know I can create beautiful projects from what I have already. So basically to sum this way long comment up...you have to take the amount of time you feel does not interrupt what is important to you...your job , you family and spend it on blogging, fb, and so on :)

  3. Wow, I don't think it could be said any better...100% AGREE with "The Other Jessica".
It is easy to get caught up. Just focus on what is most important, and go from there!

  4. AMEN Jessica!!! I went crazy the first two years blogging, I have now slowed down and don't try to keep up with everything. I'm on a shopping hold right now...I have to much stuff I may never use. I stopped buying carts, I wont buy it, if I wont use much on it. I just try now to make stuff I will use. I'm with Jessica I try not to make something I wont use. I too have a box of cards with no purpose. I've won a lot of digis lately so I don't have to buy any of them. I sure didn't get catch up in the copic hype. I bought ProMarkers and saved hundreds of dollars. I don't know how anyone does that. But, I hear you I have so many ideas and plans for my blog and just don't get around to it. I have three children and don't work so there is always something to do. I try to blog in the morning after my two oldest go to school. Then I get off and "try" to make breakfast for my husband and daughter. Then get back on a little. I write down some challenges, and do my best to get one card a day done. It's just hard to post it! We all have the same problems. That's why so many go away. It is so easy to get catch up in all this, I say if you're not making money from this and only spending money DON'T get catch up!!!

  5. It is hard not to get caught up in all of this, ha? I have had to back off some to. I think you have to just keep things in perspective and try and find a "balance" that works for you without neglecting the things that really matter...:)

  6. It is so true Karen! Trying to balance it all is not easy! I also have cut way back, and decided that blogger was more important to me, so no facebook, pinterest, you tube etc. I split my time so that I get a little bit of everything! Some days it works, some days it doesn't! I do work full time at a real job so blogging always comes after, my girls are older so it is easier for me to get on after dinner. I do blog more than I craft which always baffles me!

  7. I agree with all these ladies. I got really got caught up with blogging for a few months and I felt like I was behind all the time. I saw a fellow blog buddy quit everything all together and I learned that I can't put my life aside for any one thing. So now, I take it easy and do what I can. Especially when working full time. I give myself about 10 minutes before work to take a quick look around and about half an hour afterwork to pin, blog, be online and then I try to stop. Sometimes I go days without blogging. I've noticed it's helped me keep things more manageable. I'm also looking for more tips on keeping it all together :)

  8. I honestly don't even know.....hard question to answer. I work full time too- and sometimes I feel like I'm crazy. I usually don't do the facebook thing- unless it has to do with a DT- don't do youtube, and I try to keep up with the blogging daily so it isn't overwhelming. Sometimes, things just fall through the cracks since I am going Waaaaay too fast. :)Amy

  12. Perhaps if we did not have daylight saving time we would have more time. Not. I do not do FB often. Ck Pinterest seldom. I'm usually on computer some in morn & then again in evng. I have not bought a new Cricut cartridge since last yr Thanksgiving time and have more than enough. Yes, there are alot of nice new images but I'm holding off buying any new for now.

  13. Forgot to mention with the price of gas. Here in Central TX I paid $3.75/gal and got 3 cents off with my Kroger rewards car (allowed hubby to use the 10 cent off the other day that you get when you buy $100 in one mth at Kroger) I do not go shopping as often as I use to whether it be for craft stuff or groceries but instead try to get it all done on one day in one driving trip.

  14. Hi Karen, just going through google reader to see what I've missed for the last few days! And that says it all really!
When I started blogging I wanted to post daily and then got caught up in the addiction that was challenges!Family and work always have to come first and with my hubby working away at times I'm the only one to run round to clubs etc.
Late at night is when I generally drop by and try to catch up.Some nights just too tired.
I only seem to make DT projects at the moment.Nothing like a deadline to make me make time!!
Not a FB fan but would love to stalk Pinterest...just need 28 hours in a day!!lol

  15. That is a hard question. I usually find myself taking care of the family, house, blogs, crafting, and then watching crafting videos if I have time. I always try and make sure that I take care of the household stuff first that way no one can make me feel guilty for spending time doing my crafting. It is hard to balance them all.
